Each month, teenage girls are often forced to miss school due to lack of sanitary protection. Seeds’ project coordinator, Amaia, visited a secondary girls’ school to speak about reusable sanitary pads. She showed the students and their parents the sanitary pads that are made and sold by the women at Seeds’ tailoring business centre. Made of cotton, these pads can be washed and reused – hence providing an affordable solution and hygienic protection to many young girls.
The introduction of reusable sanitary pads at schools by Seeds coordinators, was enthusiastically supported by the parents. They are pleased that these pads will allow their daughters to pursue their education in peace and dignity.
